How stable is the mStand?
The mStand is extremely stable because it has a large base support of 7.5 inches x 10 inches. (190mm x 253 mm)
Is there some device or retainer to keep it from slipping off forward?
Take a look at the side view of the mStand. There is a lip at the front of the mStand which prevents it from slipping forward. There are also rubber pads on the corners for extra grip.
Does it feel flimsy and does it bounce when typing on it?
mStand has least movement when typing compared to other similar products. mStand will be depressed very slightly when the full weight of the hands initially rest on it. However, the subsequent typing will feel solid and firm.
This is because it is made of a single solid aluminum plate (not strip) that is forged (not casted) at the edges to give extra strength. The mStand thickness of 1/10 inch (2.5mm) is similiar to the thickness of a dinner plate, but only much harder as it is made of metal.
Will a 17" MacBook Pro sit securely on the mStand?
Yes, the mStand is big enough for the 17" MacBook Pro to sit securely on it.
Will the infrared red port or DVD be blocked for the Macbook Pro 15/17"?
No, the ports can be fully accessed and would not be blocked.
Why is the mStand inclined?
The mStand is angled for a couple of reasons:
a. It allows for the screen to be nearer the user. This will give better ergonomics and posture.
b. The notebook edges doesn't 'point' intrusively into your torso. It creates a safer feeling when they are directed to the desk instead.
c. It solves horizontal stand's main problem of being highly unsuitable for direct typing. The incline allows the user to type directly on the notebook without having to lift both the arms and elbows.
Will the aluminum surface scratch my notebook?
No, it won't. This is because the mStand is fully padded with thick rubber feet so that no part of the notebook actually touches the mStand's aluminum surface.
Will the notebook latch be blocked?
The latest mStand has been updated to have a cutout for easy access to the latch.
What is the size of the back cable managment hole?
The back cable management hole is 2" diameter and is able to accommodate the Apple Cinema Display DVI port.
What is the difference between mStand and mStand360?
The mStand360 has a very low profile 360 degrees rotating base hidden at the bottom.
This feature allows the laptop screen to be shared easily between 2 people for enhanced interactivity such as business co-workers or clients and customers.
Is the mStand and mStand360 interchangable?
No. The base construction is different and mStand360 has ball bearings embedded into the body.
Thus mStand cannot be updated to mStand360 and vice versa.
